Education
I was raised on my family's commercial cow-calf ranch in Montana. I acquired
a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington and a DVM
degree from Washington State University. I specialized in beef and dairy
practice in the northwest for five years and completed the MBA core courses
at the University of Washington before returning to the University of
Minnesota for a Ph.D. in veterinary epidemiology and production medicine
with an outside concentration in agricultural economics. After three years as
an assistant professor at the Veterinary Medicine Teaching and Research
Center of the University of California, Davis, I moved to WSU where I have a
research and teaching appointment split between the agriculture and
veterinary colleges. My teaching interests are clinical epidemiology,
evidence-based medicine, outbreak investigation and bovine production
medicine.
