Expression
CD139 is expressed on B lymphocytes, monocytes and granulocytes.  The expression is weak on erythrocytes, with a variable expression on B cells but is not expressed on T cell lines with the expression of HPB-ALL. CD139 is found on some myeloid cell lines.  In tissues sections, there is strong reactivity with follicular dendritic cells and renal glomeruli.  BU30 is also expressed in the smooth muscle of selective vessels.

Data from the workshop blind panel on HUVEC point to the possibility that CD139 expression may be induced by IL-4. The question remains whether this pertains to HUVEC or some other cell type.  CD139+ CLL may have an improved outcome.
