TM7SF4 is highly expressed in lymph nodes, lung, kidney and liver. Expression is at the low level in pancreas, bone marrow, spleen, leukocytes, peripheral blood mononuclear cells and B cells. DC-STAMP expression is in dendritic cells, in both immature and mature DCs. There is no expression in freshly isolated monocytes.

TM7S4 is a multi-pass 470 aa glycoprotein. It contains a signal sequence, an extracellular domain which contains 3 potential N-linked glycosylation sites and a protein kinase C phosphorylation site, 7 putative transmembrane domains and a 72 aa cytoplasmic domain contains multiple serines, 2 of which could be phosphorylation domains.
Alternative splicing yields several different isoforms by the full length has not been determined.
