Summer Book Club

The CVM Teaching Academy summer book club will continue this year. For the past 4 years we have had a successful program which has provided a great opportunity for anyone interested in Teaching & Learning to get together and discuss educational topics in a comfortable setting.
The "Book" Club format:
The “book club" will meet for 8 weeks to discuss selected chapters from the book "Make It Stick: The Science of Successful Learning" by Peter C. Brown, Henry Roediger, and Mark McDaniel. To read some reviews about the book click here.
As in the past four
years, the guiding principle will continue to be "no
guilt/no pressure.”
The format of the chapters within this book lend themselves to productive discussions and will allow participants to attend as time allows. Basically, you are invited to participate whenever you can.
The only expectation will be when it’s your week to
help facilitate the discussion.
There will be two parallel gatherings:
- Groups will meet either on campus during the day or off-campus in the evening
- One group will meet on campus during the day Thursdays at 2 pm in the Bustad Coffee Area or Bustad 110J.
- One group will meet after hours and outdoors as weather permits on Tuesdays at 5:30 pm at Banyans on the Ridge
- Anyone can attend either gathering or all them - it is up to you.
The 2015 Summer "Book" Club selected readings:
Ebook available through the WSU library - "Make it Stick"
Each week the
Group Leader will be expected to lead the discussion on the assigned chapter.
